Earl Cecil Monroe

Earl Cecil Monroe, 81, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 1:26 a.m. at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus where he had been a patient two weeks.

Earl was born April 14, 1936, in Fayette County, Ohio. He was the son of William Thomas and Helen Marie Rodgers Monroe and was a lifelong resident of this community.

He was a retired Armco Steelox steel worker.  He later worked at DHL in Wilmington.  He was also a taxidermist and a producer of maple syrup which he sold at the local farmer’s market.

Earl was a member of Mt. Pleasant Federated Church in Pisgah.  He had served as a sergeant in the Ohio National Guard.  For several years he was scout master of Boy Scout Troop #112.

He is survived by his wife, the former (Vesper) Charlene Flint whom she married July 26,1955; two sons and daughters-in-law, Earl and Patty Monroe, Jr. and Troy A. and Crystal Monroe, all of Washington Court House; three grandsons, Zachary Monroe, Joshua Monroe and Jason (Hillary Zurface) Monroe; a great grandson, Everest J. Monroe; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard T. and Janet Monroe of Washington Court House and Roger and Lyn Green of Sacramento, CA; two sisters, Rita Mason of Straitsville, Ohio and Skye and John O’Laughlin of Sacramento, CA; several nieces and nephews and his furry friend, Turkey.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation took place.  There will be no visitation or funeral.

            Arrangements were under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.
