JACK EUGENE PERKINS, age 79, of Mt. Sterling, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 6:05 a.m. at the Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born on August 16, 1937 in Jackson County to John D. and Greta Cantrell Perkins. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was currently employed as a maintenance mechanic at WinCup in Mt. Sterling. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. Jack was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Rosalee Perkins, Johnny Perkins, Joanne Bolin, and Barb Rider.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie S. Jenkins Perkins, whom he married on December 11, 1958; his children, Cheryl (Eddie) Clary, Karen Rainsberger, and Kevin (Michelle) Perkins; grandchildren, Lisa Perkins, Jimmy Clary, Dustin and Seth Rainsberger, Amanda (Jay) Miller, Taylor Perkins, Jaquan, Tim, and Jaylee; great-grandchildren, Kenyah’Da, Dalton, Delaney, Hunter, Kiara, Jordan, Brayden, and Cameron; siblings, Tom Perkins, and Edith (Wayne) Webber; sister-in-law, Ruth (Ed) Corns; and loving pets, Angel and Hidy. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Proudfoot officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
