Robert Hagler Willis, 86, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at 3:05 p.m. at St. Catherine’s Manor of Washington Court House where he had been since March 7.Bob was born October 18, 1930, in Washington Court House, Ohio to Richard R. and Mary A. Hagler Willis. He was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Beloit College in Wisconsin. Except for spending the last 40 winters in their much loved condo in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, he was a lifelong resident of this community where he was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Washington Lions Club and had served on the boards of directors of Fayette County Senior Citizens, Inc. and the Fayette County Historical Society. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, the former Joanne Dale Browning on December 4, 2005; by two brothers, Edwin B. (Ted) Willis in 1985, and Richard R. Willis in 2012, and a sister, Jean Willis Horne in 2012. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Mary Beth Slaughter Willis of Chicago; a foster daughter, Carol Jean Cahall Hidy and her husband, David, of Naples, FL; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Willis of Miami, FL, Jesse Slaughter Willis and his wife, Katie, of New York, NY; Robert Slaughter Willis and his wife, Hannah, of Chicago; Roxanne Hidy of Naples, FL and Joseph Hidy and his wife, Patty, of Melbourne, FL and seven great grandchildren, Tucker Hanks, George Slaughter Willis, Elle June DeGraeve, Lila Mae DeGraeve-Willis and Carson, Tayte and Reese Hidy. The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House. Burial will follow in the Bush Cemetery in Fayette County. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
