Jack Richard Slyger, 88, of Peebles, Ohio passed away Tuesday,
March 14, 2017 at his home. He was born November 10, 1928 in Roda,
Virginia and grew up in Hazard, Kentucky. Jack worked and raised his
family in Middletown, Ohio until his retirement when he moved to Peebles.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ollie (Pack) Slyger and
nine siblings.
Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline (Jacobs) Slyger of Peebles;
three children: John Slyger and wife Tammy of Peebles, Jacquelyn Grube and
husband Dan of Fairfield, and Sharon Bunting and husband Mike of Lebanon;
sister, Gertrude Blair of West Middletown; four grandchildren: Ashley Stokes
of Lebanon, Jacob Slyger of Peebles, Kevin Bunting of Lebanon, and Gretchen
Grube of Fairfield; six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran serving in WWII. He retired
from Akers Packaging in Middletown after 21 years of employment. He attended
the Peebles Baptist Church.
The visitation is Friday, March 17, 2017 from 10 am until 12 pm at
Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union. The funeral is at 12 pm with Pastor
David Hopkins officiating. The burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Meigs
Township near Peebles. A military service will be conducted by the Adams
County Honor Guard.
