GLEN L. HELMICK SR., age 87, of Frankfort, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2:55 p.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center.
He was born on December 4, 1929 in Tunnelton, West Virginia to Harmon and Irene Marks Helmick. Glen proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Pickaway County Correctional Institute, and was the owner of Helmick’s Termite and Pest Control. He also served on the Washington CH City Council Board for 5 years, and was in charge of the Sesquicentennial Anniversary for the city. Glen enjoyed playing golf, watching the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, and five siblings, Earl Helmick, Leonard Helmick, Helen Helmick Colbert, Clifford Helmick, and Ralph Helmick.
Survivors include his children, Ron (Sara) Helmick, Glen Helmick Jr., and Karen (Gary) Huffman; grandchildren, Amy (Jason) O’Dierno, and Ashley and Abby Huffman; great-grandchildren, Kaitee and Kiersten O’Dierno, Maliki, Rachel, Sam, Faith, and Emma; one sister-in-law, Annabelle Helmick. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anchor Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Griffith officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
