The Wilmington Hurricane were able to hang on for a six point victory over the Washington C.H. Blue Lions Friday night, 51-45 behind 21 points from Junior point guard Dylan Beuargard.
Neither team led by more than six points. The game was tied up at the 4:20 mark of the third period and continued to go back and forth until Wilmington finally took over the lead with 3:30 remaining in the game. Wilmington used tough defense and huge free throws by Dylan Beaugard to hang on for the victory.
Wilmington(9-3/12-8) shot 36% on the night going 18-50 from the field, 6-18 from behind the arc but were just 9-16 from the free throw line. They committed 12 turnovers on the night. They were led by Dylan Beaugard's 21 points followed by Matthew Smith's 14.
Washington(7-12/4-9) shot 43% on the night going 19-44 they were just 4-13 from three point range for 32% and were just 3-4 from the free throw line. They committed 19 turnovers on the night. They were led in scoring by Richard Burns Jr.'s 14 points followed by Jarrett Patton's 14.
