John Willard Swayne, 76, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 4:44 a.m. at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe where he had been a patient two weeks. John was born November 26, 1940, in Greenfield, Ohio to John Franklin and Myrtle Jane Eubanks Swayne.
He was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School and had lived in Greenfield before returning to Washington Court House in 2002. He was a scheduler at Armco for 36 years and then worked at New Sabina Industries.
John was a member of the Greenfield Church of Christ and served aboard the U.S.S. Essex while in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Leroy and Hugh Swayne and a sister, Lena Fenner.John is survived by his wife, the former Connie Jean Bobb whom he married March 1, 2002; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Dawn Swayne of Washington Court House and John E. and Melissa Swayne of West Union, OH; three grandchildren, Tyler Joseph Cook and his girlfriend, Jordon Anderson and her daughter, Zoei, Kaleigh Swayne and Madison Swayne; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Flo Swayne of Springfield, OH and Paul and Dorothy Swayne of Delaware, OH; a sister, Betty Leslein of Georgia; special friends who were like family, Gary, Heather, Jacob and Hannah Rose and Marvin and Debbie Carr, David and Jeanne Carr and Malinda Carr and his special pet cat, Blackie.
The funeral will be Friday, February 10, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Danny Dodds and Richie Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Highlawn Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
