Eric Huffer Collects Win 100 at Chillicothe

Chillicothe overcame a slow start and battled an inspired Hillsboro squad to only a 25-19 halftime lead, but end up collecting a 63-37 win to stay unbeaten in the FAC. The win was also Coach Eric Huffer's 100th at CHS.

The Cavaliers received a halftime message to take the ball inside to their 6’ 8” center Brandon Noel. Noel only took one first half shot and only had two points. Noel scored three straight buckets to start the third period and the Cavs rode 9 of 12 shooting to take control 44-27 by the time the third quarter ended.

The terrific trio of Noel, Jayvon Maughmer, and Tre Beard drained 17 of 23 shots on the night as they took the ball to the basket. The Cavaliers got big performances from Courtland Duncan and Kam Smith who combined for 13 points when the Indians concentrated on the Cavs big three.

After the first quarter, the Cavaliers rolled and had one of their best balanced scoring attacks of the year. Maughmer drained 14, Beard and Noel added 13 each, and Vincent Roper made it 4 in double figures with 10.

Chillicothe wound up 28 of 49 on the evening for 57%. The Cavs were only 4 of 14 from the three point line but 4 of 4 from the foul line. Hillsboro did out rebound the Cavs 23-20.

Hillsboro was led by junior Ryan Scott with 17 points. No other Indian scored more than six. Hillsboro shot 36% on 15 of 42 from the floor.

The Cavaliers are now 11-1 and 6-0 in FAC play. The Indians go to 4-6 and 1-5 in conference play.
