Late Hillsboro Rally Falls Short in Loss to Miami Trace

.

Clearly this was a true Homecoming for the Hillsboro football team as the Indians had been on the road for three consecutive weeks. However, things did not work out well for the home team as Miami Trace grabbed a 35-27 victory to earn their fourth win of the year.

.

Jayden LeBeau, the Panthers super sophomore running back, took the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown....and, in so doing, Trace had set the tone. LeBeau was far from finished. Later in the first half, the first year starter took a hand-off and bolted 73 yards for his second touchdown of the game. The Panthers, behind the running of LeBeau and passing of QB Dalton Mayer, took a 28-14 lead into intermission.

.

The second half became interesting because the Indians, with QB Justin Spears clever ball handling and elusive running (a 26 yard touchdown run included), closed the gap to 28-21. When the momentum seemed to be going the way of the Indians, Trace got another score from LeBeau to virtually ice the game. Spears, the catalyst for the Hillsboro comeback, was named the player of the game.

.

With the loss, the Indians drop to (0-1/3-3). Next week Hillsboro will pack their bags again and head to Chillicothe for another FAC encounter with the Cavaliers, which can be heard on WSRW.
