'Runaways': Danielle Bradbery Captures Exhilarating Rush Of Young Romance

The official debut of Danielle Bradbery’s latest powerful anthem has been a longtime coming (and she's not slowing down any time soon).

Bradbery recently released “Runaways,” a song about a free-spirited romance: “Nothing’s gonna stop you from loving your person. You just are willing to, you and whoever it is, run away and just fall in love and live happily ever after. The whole concept is just fun and (that) carefree, young-at-heart feeling, which is always fun to feel again.

“I’ve been sitting on that for so long, and it was about time I had a really fun, upbeat, drum-heavy song,” Bradbery said in a recent Zoom interview with iHeartRadio. “I just automatically loved the song. I thought it was huge, I thought it was powerful, and just a fun, free-feeling song. …it was something I needed because I write and record a lot of really slow, kind of breakup songs, so it was time to have something fun. So, it was just one of those moments where it was meant to be. It kind of fell in my lap, and immediately recorded it, and finally got to release it.”

“Runaways” offers a change of pace from previously-released breakup ballads from Bradbery, whose recent releases also include “Monster” and “A Special Place,” each one with “their own unique way about them.” Bradbery recently wrapped up her headlining “A Special Place Tour,” which she opened with “Runaways,” giving concertgoers a sneak peek of the anthem before its release (in addition to her Instagram followers, who got to listen to snippets of the song in advance and sing every word back to Bradbery during her live shows). She also got to see firsthand how her music resonates with audiences when she recently performed in the star-studded “Smirnoff ICE Relaunch Tour” lineup in Dallas, Texas, which also included the All-American Rejects. The nostalgic night benefited the nonprofit organization Women In Music, which states that it’s “committed to advancing equality, visibility and opportunities for women in the musical arts through education, support, empowerment and recognition.” Bradbery said the event and the support for Women In Music “made it that much more perfect, and getting to present a woman in country that night was pretty powerful.”

Bradbery is in the midst of working on new music, following her recent singles. Though she didn’t have an exact release date as of publication time, Bradbery plans to keep her fans posted on her forthcoming era of music. She’s also gearing up to join “Midnight Crisis” duet partner Jordan Davis on his headlining “Damn Good Time Tour” that’s set to kick off in September.

“This music, I think, is a little bit of a different approach than I’ve done with other songs,” Bradbery told iHeartRadio of the music fans can expect to hear in the next chapter of her career. “The honesty, the vulnerability, just all of that is always the same and I try to hit every time.

“I think I finally feel like as an artist, as a woman in country, I feel like I’m finally settling into what Danielle Bradbery’s music sounds like and what I wanna say. So, this next chapter of music I’m very, very proud of,” continued Bradbery, now 26, who launched her career at age 16 after her victory on The Voice. “I try to pick things and write things that are from different perspectives and maybe in ways that people haven’t heard before through music. …I’m really excited about it all.”
