Two people were taken to separate hospitals late Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash at Trego Creek Road and U.S. 23 in Chillicothe.
According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jacklyne D. Armstrong, 40, of Chillicothe, was eastbound along Trego Creek Road around 11:00 a.m. Thursday when she failed to yield from a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 23. Causing her Chevy Impala to be struck by a Saturn Ion operated by Edgel P. Akers, 68, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, which was southbound on U.S. 23.
Armstrong became trapped in the wreckage of her Impala and had to extracted from the vehicle by responding emergency personnel. She was then flown to Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
A passenger in Armstrong’s Chevy, Morgan H. Wright, 20, of Chillicothe, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe for treatment.
Akers suffered minor injuries in the accident but refused medical treatment at the scene.
Responding agencies at the crash scene were the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Department of Transportation, MedFlight, Scioto Township EMS & Fire, the Huntington Township Fire Department, and the Veterans Affairs Fire Department.
U.S. 23 was shut down for roughly one hour with the cause of the crash still under investigation.
