Pickaway Sheriff Warns of Scam "Sheriff" Calls

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is providing a warning to residents about a series of spam phone calls, coming from individuals claiming to be from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Matthew Hafey says the callers represent themselves as officers and tell the person they’ve called that they have missed a court date or jury duty.

Sheriff Hafey says on some occasions, the caller asks to obtain financial information to resolve the matter without going to court.

The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office does not, and will never, call someone and ask for money to resolve an outstanding case or fine.

These calls should be ignored and if received, should be reported to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Reports of this same scam have also been reported by the Ross County Sheriff's Office.
