$70K worth of methamphetamine and marijuana seized in Pickaway County

A Michigan man faces felony drug charges as the result of a traffic stop from Sunday, July 25th.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Troopers stopped a 2020 Jeep Cherokee with Tennessee registration around 7:45 p.m. Sunday along U.S. 23 for following too closely.

Troopers noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle resulting in a probable cause search, which revealed seven pounds of methamphetamine and 290 grams of marijuana, valued at approximately $70,000.

The driver, Cornell D. Thompkins, 29, of Detroit, was arrested and charged with first-degree felony possession and trafficking in methamphetamine.
