Chillicothe Council Recap: April 12th, 2021

Chillicothe Council members passed agenda items regarding insurance claim funds and establishing a pay scale for part-time, seasonal employees on Monday. Council waived the three-read rule to pass an ordinance to accept insurance claim funds for damage that was caused to a guardrail on Belleview Avenue, as well as to set the pay scale for part-time, seasonal employees within the City Administration Office, Parks & Recreation, Engineering, Utilities, Service, and Police departments.

An ordinance to allow elected officials "the benefit of participating in the City's 457 Deferred Compensation Plan to include the same city-funded match available to all other permanent employees of the City of Chillicothe" and a resolution to allow the city to file grant applications with ODOT for the Ohio Rides to Community Immunity Program will move on for a second reading.

Council members also heard from community member Melody Lapczynski regarding the possibility of Chillicothe to earn the Purple Heart City designation.
