iHeartRadio is saying goodbye to one of its own as long-time news anchor and sports announcer Mike Smith will be leaving his post to pursue another career locally.
Smith started broadcasting 43 years ago, and through the years, he earned several local, state, and national awards for his news and sports reporting.
"Thanks to all the great listeners, which many, many of them ... became life-long friends, and I can say the same about my colleagues being life-long friends," said Smith, "and that means more to me than any nice thing that anybody ever said about the job that I did."
While Smith's last day at the news desk was January 21, he will finish the regular SVC basketball season calling games on 94.3FM WKKJ.
