Man Arrested for Home Invasion Near New Martinsburg

A Fayette County man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning for a reported home invasion on Zimmerman Road outside New Martinsburg.

According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, residents there discovered 38-year-old Bradley N. Carr of Washington Court House crawling through a window. The residents, which included children, fled to the home of a nearby family member and contacted law enforcement at 7:40am.

A witness reported that Carr left the home with a shotgun and ammunition that was the homeowner' property, as well as wearing clothing taken from the home. But when confronted by the witness, Carr turned those over along with money.

A deputy arrived within minutes, encountering Carr walking away from the residence. He did not comply and was taken to the ground and secured.

Carr was jailed and charged with second degree felony burglary and third degree felony theft of a firearm.
