Fayette Chamber President Says Retail Business Ready for May 12th Reopening

Retail businesses around Ohio are preparing to open their doors to customers, starting May 12th. We spoke with Fayette County Chamber of Commerce President Julie Bolender about the challenges facing both small business and the consumer, as temporary changes are necessary as long as the COVID-19 virus is still a threat.

She says the chamber has provided signs for retailers to post on the doors of their businesses, to let their customers know the rules of that particular store. Bolender says it’s important that we make this work, so that we don’t take a step back from the reopening phase we are now starting to see.

Julie added that the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce also started a Supply Share Program, which provides small business with the materials to get their store up and running, such as cleaning agents and masks, just to name a few.

Salons, spas, barber shops along with outdoor sit-down service at bars and restaurants can resume service on May 15th. Customers will be allowed to drink or dine inside on May 21st.
