Both Fayette Girls Basketball Teams Drop From Post-Season

Friday was a double-dose of disappointment for the two Fayette County High Schools, as both Miami Trace and Washington Court House fall in Division 2 District Semifinal action at Southeastern High School. Sheridan beats Miami Trace 41-26 and Warren over Washington CH 53-36.

SHERIDAN 41, MIAMI TRACE 26

FAC regular season co-champ Miami Trace fell behind 17-2 in the first quarter and good not get back in their 41-26 loss to Sheridan. By halftime, it was 25-9. The Lady Panthers clawed back to with 27-17 after three quarters, but could not make up the rest of the ground needed in seeing their season end.

Miami Trace was held to 8/37 shooting- including 1/10 from the arc for 22%. They added 8/10 from the foul line. Sheridan was a red-hot 14/22 for 64%, which included 4/15 from the arc and added 9/14 at the foul line. 20 turnovers were a killer for the Lady Panthers, Sheridan had 13.

Only one player for either team hit double figures, and that was Sheridan's Grace Conrad with 13. Miami Trace was led by Margarah Bloom's 6 points.

WARREN 53, WASHINGTON CH 36

Number 3 stated ranked Warren get out of the gate for an 11-5 lead after one quarter, and by halftime were up 28-7 and went on for the victory.

The Lady Blue Lions' Shawna Conger scored 23 of her team's 36 points on the night to lead all players. That included Conger's 1,000th career point. Sommer SaBoley and Olivia Allaway each had 10 points to lead the Lady Warriors.

WCH shot 14/39- including 5/12 from behind the arc for 36%. They added 3/5 from the foul line. Warren shot 19/48 from the field- including 5/10 from the arc for 40%. They were also 10/15 at the foul line.

Washington had 25 turnovers compared to 16 for Warren.
