Miami Trace Lady Panthers Rally to Edge Unioto in Battle of SVC/FAC Leaders

In a battle that could be a preview of a possible Division 2 Girls Tournament Basketball match-up, Miami Trace rallied from several points down to beat Unioto 49-42, at Miami Trace.

The Lady Shermans held leads of several points throughout much of the game and led as late as 35-32, when the Lady Panthers went on a 8-0 run for a 35-32 lead. Unioto grabbed their last lead of the game at 42-41, only to see Miami Trace go on another scoring run of 8-0 to finish the game for a 49-42 victory.

Miami Trace had only one player in double figures, as Shaylee McDonald connected for 20 points. Macarah Bloom added 9. Unioto was led by Amber Cottrill with 16 points and Emily Coleman with 14.

Miami Trace shot 17/40 from the floor- including 4/12 behind the arc for 43%, and were 11/20 at the foul line. Unioto was 15/45- including 6/25 from the arc for a chilly 33%. They also were 6/9 from the charity stripe. Both teams committed 13 turnovers.

Miami Trace, who is tied with McClain for the FAC lead heading into their championship showdown Thursday, improves to (14-5) overall on the season. SVC Champ Unioto drops to (17-3) overall.
