Keith Urban attended the Grammy Awards this year without his wife, Nicole Kidman, by his side. The country singer revealed that Kidman was unfortunately home sick with the flu on Sunday (January 26) and wasn't able to make it.
"My wife is home with the flu," Urban told PeopleTV on the red carpet before the show. "A lot of that going around."
He shared that Kidman was "in good hands" at home with the couple's two daughters and that he was planning to get back home to take care of her quickly after the show.
"She's home with out girls tonight and I'm heading home ASAP," he says, adding that he is still very excited for some of the highlights of the evening.
"I always think about the totally unexpected collaborations, so [I'm] looking forward to more of that tonight," he said pre-show.
The "We Were" singer hinted at "a bunch" of new music coming this year. "I can't really categorize it," he said of his new songs. "So I love people being able to decide what it is."
In addition to new music, this year Urban will continue his Las Vegas residency. He recently announced new shows which will run through November at Ceasar's Palace.
The 62nd Grammy Awards aired live from Los Angeles' Staples Center on Sunday, January 26 at 8PM ET on CBS. Check out the full list of winners this year here.
Urban and Kidman were both feeling the devastating effects of the massive bushfires in Australia. The couple pledges a $500,000 donation to services battling the wildfires taking over the place they both grew up in. They made their donation public in hopes of encouraging and inspiring others to contribute as well.
"Our family's support, thoughts, and prayers are with everyone affected by the fires all over Australia. We are donating $500,000 to the Rural Fire Services who are all doing and giving so much right now," Urban wrote on Twitter at the time, including links to local fire services for those who would like to make their own contribution.
