Two Injured in Overnight Crash on SR 335 in Pike County

Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident in Pike County. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Chase Eyre, 27, of Chillicothe, was driving a Jeep eastbound on State Route 335 at 1:39 a.m., Saturday, when he drove off the road and crashed into a ditch and culvert. The vehicle then overturned before it caught fire, authorities said.

Authorities said Glen Martin, 23, of Bainbridge, was the passenger; Martin removed Eyre and himself from the vehicle.

Eyre was taken to Grant Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, while Martin was transported to Adena Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

In addition to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Pike County Sheriff's Department, Jackson Township Fire, and Pike County EMS responded to the scene.

Authorities said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
