"A Festivus For the Rest of Us

Festivus Day:Time to celebrate,Seinfeld fans, because today, December 23rd, is Festivus Day.

If you never watched Seinfeld and have no idea what we're talking about ... In a December 1997 episode of Seinfeld, Frank Costanza (played by Jerry Stiller) reveals that he created Festivus in response to the commercialism of Christmas. The slogan is: “A Festivus for the rest of us.”

How is Festivus celebrated?Instead of a decorated tree, there is an unadorned aluminum pole. There is also a Festivus dinner, where you participate in the "Airing of Grievances" which is an opportunity to tell others at the table how they have disappointed you in the past year. The celebration ends with the "Feats of Strength," which involves wrestling the head of the household. The holiday is not complete unless the head of the household is pinned.
