Authorities in Highland County are investigating a deadly shooting and subsequent suicide that occurred just after midnight, Saturday.

Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera told WCPO in Cincinnati that the gunman killed a female inside a home, fled to the nearby Hillsboro Nazarene Church on U.S. Route 50, and barricaded himself inside.

Authorities confirmed the gunman killed himself following a standoff.
