Washington CH Voters being Asked To Support School Tax Levy

The Washington City Schools are asking the voters to pass an income tax levy for operating expenses.

.

The district's Gregg Phipps says the district has not had a new operating levy approved since 1991. He added that it will be a traditional tax levy that does not impact those on social security or on disability benefits.

.

There will be a one million cuts in transportation, athletics, activities, academics and the arts.

.

He says up to 20-25 staff members could lose their jobs, which will impact the entire community. Phipps also says cutting extra curricular activities could result in some students getting into more trouble with nothing constructive to keep them busy.
