CDC Investigates Reports of Respiratory Illnesses in E-Cig, Vape Users

Multiple states across the country have reported clusters of patients experiencing severe respiratory disease after using e-cigarette or vapor products, with 153 possible cases in 16 states reported since this past Wednesday, August 21st. Six of the cases involve residents here in Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

Patients have reported vaping in the weeks or months prior, and many have acknowledged recent use of THC-related products, but no specific product has been identified, or linked to the illnesses.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating the reports and the Ohio Department of Health has issued a health alert to healthcare providers asking them to report all suspected cases.
