Chillicothe VA Medical Center Announces New Director

(Chillicothe VAMC) -- The Department of Veterans Affairs announces the appointment of Dr. Kathy Berger as the new Medical Center Director of the VA Medical Center near Chillicothe, effective March 17.

"We are excited to bring Dr. Berger on board as the new Medical Center Director of the Chillicothe VA," said Denise Deitzen, Acting Veterans Integrated Service Network 10 Director.

"Dr. Berger has an outstanding track record at the Montana VA Healthcare System, and during her nine years of healthcare leadership in the U.S. Air Force. Exciting things are ahead for our nation's heroes in Chillicothe."

Berger currently serves as the Medical Center Director and CEO of the Montana VA Healthcare System, where she manages care at 16 sites for 38,000 Veterans across the state of Montana.

She has also served as CEO and Chief Nursing Executive at the Sheridan, Wyoming VAMC; Chief of Quality, Performance, and Patient Safety at the VAMC in Lexington, Kentucky; and as a Nurse Manager at the Cincinnati VAMC.

Before joining the VA, Dr. Berger served in the US Air Force for ten years, including as a Nurse Manager and Deputy Flight Commander at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton,. She holds a doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Kentucky and a master’s in healthcare administration from California College for Health Sciences (Salt Lake City).

Chillicothe’s previous Medical Center Director, Mark Murdock, was appointed as the new Medical Center Director for the Cincinnati VAMC in October 2018.

Berger’s successor in Montana has not yet been selected.
