The National Weather Service has added Highland, Ross, and Brown counties to a Winter Storm Warning that was already placed for Fayette, Pickaway and northern counties.

NWS says warmer temperatures will keep the precipitation as rain Saturday afternoon, before a heavy mix of precipitation starts falling by early Saturday evening, with transition to all snow by mid evening.

Total snow accumulations are forecast at between 3-5 inches for Ross and Highland counties, with deeper amounts to the north and west. Some ice accumulation of one tenth of an inch is also possible, compounded by winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour, which will make for widespread blowing snow and reduced visibility.

The winter storm warning will be in place between 2pm Saturday and 8am Sunday, but much colder temperatures will move in with a Sunday high of 17 and wind-chills of -2. Wind chills could drop to -10 Sunday night.

Monday highs are expected at 14, but soaring back up to 40 degrees on Tuesday.
