Proposal Would Send Money to Ohio Counties with Complex Court Cases

Ohio Auditor Dave Yost has announced a push to get Pike County some financial help in the trial of the four members of the Wagner family, accused of murdering eight people two and a half years ago.

Yost is working with State Senator Bob Peterson, a Washington Court House Republican; and State Representative Shane Wilkin, a Hillsboro Republican.

"We are proposing not just a fix for Pike County," said Yost. "But looking for a mechanism that will make sure that no small county has to choose between basic services and seeking justice in a complex case."

The language in the proposed bill is now being analyzed by the Legislative Service Commission. If exacted, the money would be cleared through the state controlling board.
