Portman Accuses Drug Company of Gouging

(24/7 News)  --  Ohio Senator Rob Portman is releasing a report accusing a major drug company of exploiting the opioid crisis to dramatically raise the cost of medication used to revive overdose patients.

The Senator made the report public yesterday which claims the company Kaleo increased the price of its naloxone drug by 600 percent and encouraged doctors to pay for it through Medicare.  The drug produced by Kaleo does not cure opioid addiction but can revive those dying from an opioid overdose.

Portman called the company's actions outrageous and promised to help close loopholes in the Medicare and Medicaid system.
