Pedestrian's Death Closed US 23 Southbound

A Chillicothe man was struck and killed, closing southbound US 23 South last night. 


The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports 35-year-old William V. Tindall of Piketon was southbound in a 2013 Peterbilt tractor-trailer in the left lane of US 23 near Rozelle Creek Road.  


At about 8:15pm, 23-year-old Travis J. White of Chillicothe, stepped from the median into the path of Tindall’s vehicle, and was struck.


White succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ross County Coroner.  Tindall was not injured.


The southbound lanes of US 23 were closed from about 9pm to midnight Wedensday. 


The Ohio Department of Transportation, Huntington Township Fire/EMS, Scioto Township Fire/EMS, and the Ross County Coroner were on scene.


The incident remains under investigation.
