Hillsboro Out Slugs WCH 71-50


The Hillsboro Indians ran all over the Washington Court House Blue Lions Friday Night on their way to a 71-50 league win to pull them even at 1-1 in League Play and 6-1 overall.


The game started with both teams trading touchdowns back and forth, each team scored three first quarter TD's but Hillsboro led 22-20 as the Blue Lions missed two 2-point conversions, while the Indians missed one.


The two teams traded touchdowns again to start the second quarter but then Hillsboro took over scoring four touchdowns in the quarter to just the one by the Blue Lions. Hillsboro went into the half with a 52-28 lead, as they scored on every possession they had in the half.


Hillsboro ended up with 361 total yards in the half, all on the ground. Led by Junior Running Back Mark Galimore's 170 yards on just 6 carries and two touchdowns. Josh Keets had 111 yards on 9 carries with 3 first half TD's and Deon Burns had 25 yards rushing in the half, but we would see much more of Burns in the second half.


Washington had 270 total yards in the half, led by Dillon Steward's 58 yards rushing and 80 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns.


The second half started just as the first ended with Hillsboro marching right down the field and on a 3 play 51 yard drive that ended with Keets getting his fourth TD of the night to put Hillsboro up 58-28 but Washington answered right back when Gio Thomas finished off a 5 play 59 yard drive with a one yard touchdown run, PAT was good to cut it to 58-36. That was all the scoring in the quarter, Washington outscored Hillsboro 8-6 but still trailed by 22 points.


The two teams exchanged touchdowns, 2 a piece in the fourth quarter and Washington was never able to cut the lead to less than 14, finally falling 71-50.


Washington (4-3, 0-2) had 417 total yards, 147 rushing and Gio Thomas finished 17-33 for 370 yards passing. Dillon Steward had 10 receptions for 259 yards and 4 touchdowns.


The Blue Lions welcome McClain next Friday night.


Hillsboro had 609 total yards, all on the ground. Mark Galimore had 12 carries for 216 yards and 2 touchdowns, Deon Burns finished with 22 carries for 177 yards, 152 in the second half and 2 touchdowns and Josh Keets had 15 carries for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns. They had 17 first downs and only one penalty.


Hillsboro (6-1, 1-1) travel to Jackson Next Friday Night to take on the Ironmen.
