Seasonal Hot Dogs & Over-Indulging On Labor Day

It's Labor Day Weekend ... which means chances are you are going to over-indulge. That's no surprise. But it may surprise you how much you over-indulge. A survey found that the average person eats three times more at a BBQ than they would during a normal meal. Most of us chow down on about 1,800 calories at a typical barbecue, while a typical meal at home would be about 500 to 700 calories. Oh, and that's not even counting the alcohol. Have a few glasses of wine or a couple of beers with that burger, hot dog and potato salad and that's an extra 400 calories or more. (Daily Mail)

See ya next summer, hot dogs. Apparently Labor Day is the official end of hot dog season. According to the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council, hot dog season begins on Memorial Day and ends on Labor Day.
