WCH Woman Killed in Friday Morning Crash


The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that claimed the life of a Fayette County woman early Friday morning.  The crash, reported at 6:40am occurred on State Route 753 south of the Stuckey Road intersection in Union Township. 



According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, a 1998 Toyota Camry operated by 37-year-old Amanda D. Saltz-Smith of Washington CH was traveling south on State Route #753 and traveled off the left side of the roadway.  The vehicle traveled down an embankment, overturned multiple times before coming to rest in an agricultural field.  During the crash, the driver was unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle.  



Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.  It appeared the crash occurred during the overnight hours but wasn’t discovered until dawn.



The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash and was towed from the scene.  Members of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office – Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene and continue to investigate the crash.  Also assisting at the crash scene were members of the Washington Fire Department, Fayette County E.M.S., and the Sheriff’s Crash Response Team.
