Going Broke Can Kill You

Researchers have discovered that it’s actually dangerous for people to go broke.

Amazingly, the risk of death for middle-aged and older Americans jumps a whopping 50 percent when they have a sudden loss of wealth.

The loss of money ends up affecting the way they take care of themselves. With less money, they’re less able to pay for health care costs.

The loss of money also messes with their mental health and leaves people with fewer options. Life ends up being less fun and -- it seems -- not worth living quite as much.

So, whatever you do, protect that nest egg. Your life depends on it. (MarketWatch)
