Several Thousand Lose Electricity in Monday Night Storm

The lights are coming back on for most central and southern Ohio residents after a rare January thunderstorm swept the area.  American Electric Power and South Central Power say thousands of customers in in the region lost power last night.

The storms brought high winds, heavy rain, hail and lightning before quickly leaving the area. Both companies say it may be this afternoon before all service is restored to area customers.

Roweton School is closed Tuesday and operating on "Plan B" as a result of the power outages. Both Unioto, Ross Christian Academy and Bishop Flaget Schools in Ross County are on two-hour delays Tuesday morning for the same reason.
