Washington Court House City Manager Joe Denen reflected on the city's top accomplishments of 2017, as he spoke with iHeart Media's Oscar Allen during city council's final meeting of 2017, Wednesday night.
Denen pointed to several projects where the city accomplished more by working cooperatively with the Fayette County Commissioners.
Among those projects was work to establish a park district that preserved the former Washington Court House Country Club Golf Course property as an open space. Denen says this has afforded the community and opportunity to maintain a recreational golf course within Washington Court House.
City Manager Denen says other projects jointly worked out by city and county was construction of the new water tower next to the Fayette YMCA.
He also says the city and county are currently working toward the establishment of a land bank, which would help both governmental entities deal with "problem properties" in a more effective manner.
In other business, council also handed out appreciation awards for council-members Leah Foster, Kim Bonnell and Council Chair Dale Leach for their years of service.
