FERN WILT HOLLINGSWORTH, age 89, of Washington Court House, went home to be with her Lord and Savior following an extended illness, early Sunday morning, October 8, 2017 at Court House Manor where she had been residing for the past two years.
Fern was born March 11, 1928 in Fayette County, Ohio to Willie Mason Wilt and Carol Sanderson Wilt. Fern was employed at Montgomery Ward before devoting her life to raising her family. She was actively involved in the Senior Citizens Center where she enjoyed singing and playing in the band. She was an active member of the South Side Church of Christ in Washington Court House where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, visited shut-ins, prepared meals, participated in the Loyal Disciples Sunday School Class, served as a greeter along with her husband and always selflessly served others.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Traverse R. Hollingsworth, brothers, Chester Carmel Wilt, Grant Mason Wilt, Carl Wilson Wilt Sr., Ralph Allen Wilt Sr., John Loyola Wilt, infant brother, Willie Sherman Wilt and infant sister, Alice Jane Wilt.
She is survived by her sister, Wanda Lou Wilt of Brockport, New York, her brothers, Marlyn Howard Wilt of Huber Heights, Ohio, Robert Wayne Wilt (Sandra) of Enon, Ohio, Richard Gene Wilt (Margaret) of Washington Court House, Ohio, Malcom Dane Wilt of Livermore, California, Ronald Moore Wilt (Sandra) of Wilmington, Ohio, and by her daughters Julie Byard Cossette (Mike) of Lexington, Kentucky, and Linda Kay Knisley (David) of Hilliard, Ohio. Also surviving are her grandchildren, John Traverse Byard (Whitney), Jeremy Michael Byard, Christopher Cossette (Amber), Jenipher Griffith (David), Kenny Cossette and Michael Cossette and great-grandchildren, Sydney, Tyler and William Byard, Caiden, Cannon and Piper Cossette, and Mason Griffith as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held at the South Side Church of Christ in Washington Court House on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Milledgeville-Plymouth Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13.
