WCH Falls to St. Charles, 34-12

The St. Charles Cardinals played mistake-free football on their way to a 34-12 victory over the Washington Court House Blue Lions, Friday night.

St. Charles surprised the Blue Lions by scoring on the first play of their first possession: a 60-yard throw and catch from Brooks McCann to Dylan Forche.  On the very next possession, St. Charles returned a Blue Lion punt deep in Washington's own territory and went 22 yards in 3 plays finalizing in a 21-yard touchdown pass from McCann to Roland Rowe to take a 14-0 lead. 

The Blue Lions got on the board on their next possession, going 90 yards, which was sparked by a fake punt pass from Eli Ruth to Jameson McCane. Washington CH completed 13 plays in five minutes ending with a Jacob Rice three-yard run (PAT blocked) making the score 14-6 St. Charles.

The Cardinals added two field goals in the 2nd quarter to take a 20-6 lead going into the half.

The Blue Lions scored first in the 3rd quarter going 85 yards in 8 plays as Richie Burns found Eli Ruth in the end zone on a 31-yard pass, which would be the last points the Blue Lions scored in the game. St. Charles added another TD in the third quarter and a mop-up TD late in the 4th after the Blue Lions tried to go for it on a fourth down deep in their own territory and failed, giving St. Charles the ball at the Blue Lion 14 yard line. 

Richie Burns was 7-22 for 96 yards passing with one touchdown. Jacob Rice had 21 carries for 66 yards and a score, and Eli Ruth had 3 catches for 43 yards and a score. The Blue Lions had 169 total yards and committed 4 turnovers. Washington fell to (2-3) and plays Jackson (4-1) in the FAC opener at Gardner Park next Friday night.

St. Charles had 290 total yards and didn't commit a turnover. They were led by QB Brooks McCann's 5-12 passing for 137 yards and two touchdown's; he also had 15 carries for 15 yards and a score. St. Charles (1-4) picked up their first win of the season.
