Superstar football player J.J. Watt, who plays for the Houston Texans, wanted to pitch in to help the city in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, so he announced a fundraiser for flood relief on the crowd funding site YouCaring.com.
He originally set a goal of $200,000. That amount was raised in less than a day, and since then, the campaign has raised millions – with no end in sight.
Watt said he was surprised by how quickly the site has raised funds, but also knows money is coming in from all over the country with generous people giving whatever they can.
It’s going to take a lot of time for the area to recover, but there’s clearly a lot of people – including J.J. Watt – doing what they can to be a part of the solution.
