Data from the Centers for Disease Control shows many adults are missing out on important vaccines as they get older. Doctor Michael Roizen with the Cleveland Clinic says it's vital for adults to stay up to date on their vaccines to protect themselves against preventable diseases, starting with a flu shot.
Doctor Roizen says another important vaccine for adults over the age of 60 is the shingles vaccine. A recent study shows contracting shingles can increase a person's risk of heart attack and stroke during the period immediately following the virus. Other important vaccines for adults include T-Dap, hepatitis A and B, meningitis, MMR, tetanus and pneumonia.
