Congressman Shot: Republican Steve Scalise Shot at Baseball Practice

 President Trump has tweeted, "Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana, a true friend and patriot, was badly injured but will fully recover. Our thoughts and prayers are with him."

Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise was one of five people shot at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia early this morning.

Scalise, who is the Majority Whip of the House of Representatives, was at the field with other House Republicans practicing for the annual Congressional Baseball Game which is scheduled for Thursday night at Nationals Park. Scalise was reportedly shot in the hip. Some staffers and a couple of police officers were also hit. Their conditions are unknown. The gunman is in custody. Story is developing. (NBC News)
