Miami Trace advances in the Girls Division II District Tournament with a 46-33 victory over the #1 seed Sheridan Lady Generals.
The Panthers came out strong in the first quarter shooting 8-18 including three 3 point shots to take a 21-8 lead after one. They would need that hot first quarter as they cooled off a bit and the scoring was pretty even the rest of the way through. Miami Trace led 28-13 at the half, outscoring Sheridan 7-5 in the second period. Sheridan committed 9 first half turnovers and were just 2-10 shooting inside the arc and 3-11 from behind the arc thanks to the tenacious Panther defense.
Sheridan outscored Miami Trace in the second half, 11-10 in the third and 9-8 in the fourth quarter but were never able to cut the deficit to less than 9 points.
Sheridan finished the night shooting 14-49 for 29%, they committed 16 turnovers and had 23 rebounds. Senior Jayden Geary led the way for the Lady Generals with 16 points, their only player in double figures. They finish the season at 20-5.
