Betty Jane Hollingsworth Burge, 84, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation Residence. She was born October 12, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Clarence Edward Hollingsworth and Carrie Beryl Brewer Hollingsworth. She graduated from Adams Township School and received a bachelor’s degree from Wright State University.
Betty was a licensed professional counselor. During her career, she worked at Hopewell, the Mental Health & Recovery Centers of Warren County, and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. She was a member of the Wilmington Friends Meeting and was an active supporter of Sugartree Ministries. She was a founding member of the Clinton County Saddle Club and a longtime riding instructor.
She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Burge; a son, Frank Burge of Wilmington, Ohio; a granddaughter, Tara L. (Randy) McCall of Wilmington, Ohio; five brothers, Ed (Dolores) Hollingsworth of Lebanon, Ohio, Dewey (Mildred) Hollingsworth Wilmington, Ohio, Ronald (Barbara) Hollingsworth of Clarksville, Ohio, Clarence H. (Betty) Hollingsworth of Wilmington, Ohio, and Carl J. (Ginny) Hollingsworth Sr. of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister, Sandra K. (Denny) Wilson of Wilmington, Ohio; and close friends, Mary Ellen McDermott of Florida and Jackie Timko of Wilmington, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Friday, February 17, 2017 at Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South St., Wilmington, Ohio. Burial will be in Springfield Friends Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
