Washington Schools Honor Veterans and Show Youngsters The Election Process

Although COVID-19 has adjusted many of the Veterans Day celebrations with the Blue Lions, Washington High School is working hard to make sure to still honor the Veterans in the community. The Washington High School Business Management class decorated a banner showing their love and appreciation for those who have served our country, with many of their classmates taking time to add their personal thanks on the ever-growing banner. Next week, this banner will be proudly displayed on the front lawn of WHS for all of Veterans in Fayette County to see, as well as stop and take a photo with.

As Americans across the nation exercised their Constitutional right this week, Students of Miss Williams' class at Belle Aire Intermediate School also conducted an election of their own. As a culminating event to their research covering the election process, these Blue Lions cast their ballots and worked the many different jobs found at every polling place so their classmates could vote as well. Through their studies, this social studies class learned the many steps and checks that are in place to ensure votes are safely and securely counted in our community.
