The Highland County Sheriff has arrested a man who escaped the courthouse during his sentencing.
34-year-old Nickolaus Garrison was sentenced to six months in jail for a meth possession charge Tuesday. Video from inside the Highland County Courthouse house shows Garrison getting taken into custody, then bolting outside the room.
Sheriff Donnie Barrera said Deputy Ben Reno chased after Garrison into the courthouse hallway. The video shows him dramatically dive over a railing. He suffered broken ribs and a minor concussion.
Barrera says they had a search warrant and deputies had arrested Garrison at a motel in Clinton County.
