State and national health officials have been warning that influenza is impacting a large number of people across the country, and now that message has become a reality in south central Ohio.

Miami Trace Local Schools in Fayette County and Leesburg Fairfield Local Schools in Highland County will be closed on Friday, January 17th, due to a high volume of student absence from Influenza B cases.

As a result, the Friday night boys basketball games involving Miami Trace at Chillicothe are being postponed to a later date. That reschedule date has not yet been determined.

Ohio Department of Health announced earlier last week that hospitalizations from influenza had more than doubled over the year before for the same period as last year.
