Hillsboro Falls In FAC Showdown With Miami Trace

After splitting a pair of games over the weekend, the Hillsboro Indians returned home to face a Miami Trace team that is improving. HHS, also a team that has taken some positive strides lately, couldn't stay with Trace in the second half and dropped a 59-43 decision.

.

The teams combined for 28 turnovers in the first half but the Panthers outscored the hometown Indians by 11 in the second quarter to lead by 7 at the half.

.

In the second half MTHS twice expanded their leads to double figures only to see Hillsboro come roaring back to make it a 2 possession game. However, the Panthers were able to get inside (where they have a size advantage with 6'7'' and 6'8'' forwards) to convert big baskets and critical frees throws to increase the to the final count of 16.

.

Miami Trace was led on the interior by Logan Rodgers and Andrew Guthrie (a junior and freshman respectively). On the other hand, Hillsboro was led by Ryan Scott, who hit three straight 3's in the first period. However, Trace for the rest of the game was able to clamp down on Scott and prevent him fro having great game.

.

The Indians are now 1 -- 3 in FAC action (Trace is 2 -- 2). Hillsboro will play again at home Friday against Clermont Northeastern.
