State Supreme Court Rules in WCH Case

The Ohio Supreme Court says a traffic stop involving a vehicle in Washington Court House, which did not match the color on the car's registration, was constitutional.

The justices ruled in favor of a police officer from Washington Court House, who argued his experiences with car thefts involving switched license plates, gave him a “reasonable, articulable” suspicion of criminal activity.

The driver involved in the traffic stop in question was eventually arrested on outstanding warrants. Justice Michael Donnelly dissented in the ruling, arguing the color discrepancy did not justify a stop and seizure, citing the Fourth Amendment.
