(Hillsboro) -- The Friends of the Highland County Dog Pound invite all animal lovers to Barktoberfest, their annual fund-raising event, in the parking lot of Holtfield Station, October 12 from 10am-3pm.
Barktoberfest proceeds are used to pay for vaccines, medicines, medical care, treatment and transport of lost or abandoned dogs who need help and homes. Kindhearted donors, vendors and sponsors have ensured plenty of goodies and goods for dogs and their families.
Pet Halloween costumes, pet attire, dog toys, accessories and pet needs will be on sale along with painted pumpkins, home baked desserts and T-shirts. Raffle items will be drawn through the day. Kids can enjoy the free Bouncy House, spin the wheel for prizes or win a treat for a well aimed toss.
Barktoberfest vendors include Lydia’s Pet Sitting for reliable pet care, Picture Perfect Nails featuring Color Streak nail strips and Paparazzi fashion-forward, affordable jewelry. Connie’s Cookin’ will be selling German Chocolate Cake, Amaretto Cupcakes, Cranberry Nut cookies and Pina Colada cookies. Pup Pies will feature an array of all-natural dog treats plus pet accessories and necessaries.
Silent auctions offer the opportunity for a variety of gift crates and baskets filled with decorative and helpful home goods, pet-themed blankets, throws, wall art and kitchen wares from Red Velvet Cakery in Wilmington, Lori’s Place in Lynchburg, and Princess Primitives in Fayetteville. Local individual contributors added their generous gifts as well, including dog crates and bedding for pets and their people.
Holtfield Station has again graciously provided the space for this annual event. Barktoberfest visitors should park on the northeast side of the enterprise. Silent auctions will end at 2 PM and items can be picked up until 3:30 PM.
Animal lovers, former dog owners, future dog owners and pet fanciers of every age are eligible to help the Friends help dogs. Bid and buy at Barktoberfest, Saturday October 12th to support the year-round efforts of the Friends of the Highland County Pound.
