A report put together by doctors at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and the Brooks College of Health at the University of North Florida, shows that nearly two-thirds of "pins" for homemade sunscreen on the social media site offered insufficient UV protection.

Experts say the products are not regulated or tested for efficacy like commercial sunscreens.

It's also considered critical to have effective UV protection, with the ongoing rise in skin cancer rates. the study authors recommend you apply sunscreen early and often, and throw out old or expired sunblock when you're out in the sun.
